Sometimes the loveliest surprises are those that are unexpected. Not a present that finds it's way to your doorstep on a holiday or special occasion (Not that I'm saying those aren't pretty fabulous too) but rather one that is given to you just because.
These are often the most important because they remind us that we are thought of and remembered on not only "big" days but other normal days as well. The not so exciting days. They remind us that we are loved.
That we mean something to someone. That they know us. That we are connected to someone in a special way.
This week, I was blessed with such a gift from my dear friend, Michelle. I know many of you have seen her amazing mosaic creations, but what you might not know if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting her in person is that her heart is even bigger than her art. Michelle posted a sweet and touching story about our friendship earlier this week. When I read it I felt as if I had written it myself.
We don't talk often but when we do it was like we had just gotten together the day before. I am so thankful that friendships come in many different shapes and sizes. Connections can be instant or simmer over time. Possibly these are the relationships of adulthood ~ not based on hanging out at parties or commiserating over teenage crushes but those that are about valuing each other for what is inside and sticking it out through the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thank you sweet friend ~ I appreciate you so. . .
