Class Descriptions:
Whimsical Garden Gate Folio/Mini-Book by Carol Wingert
It all starts with an old book jacket. With a bit of glue, paint, a few stitches and some paper, you will create a handmade folio and mini-book. Add a metal garden gate, vintage flowers, ribbon, and a mirrored bird, and you will have a beautiful and unique keepsake to hold your treasured memories.
From the time she was a child, Carol Wingert has wanted to teach, create and write. In memory art, she has found all three passions. Carol teaches memory art and bookmaking classes, both nationally and internationally. She is a co-author of Lifelines and Artful Memories and has been a contributing artist to several Designing With books. Her work has been featured in many Stampington magazines as well as several scrapbooking magazines. She currently is on the advisory board of Somerset Memories and is a contributing editor to Making Memories magazine. She also has a monthly project kit business called "creatologie from carol wingert studio". Carol married her best friend, Vern, 30 years ago and they live in Gilbert, AZ with their daughter Ashley, and their myriad of pets. It's All Frosting by Kim Hesson
Put your sweet tooth aside as we create a vintage inspired pedestal cakestand made with a custom designed hand-cut piece of wood designed by Kim for this class. We will learn collage and wood aging techniques using vintage music paper, masking tape and acrylic paints -- mix in some fabulous buttons, lace trim, seam binding and sparkly glitter! Top it all off with dangling antique pearls and glittered whimsical birds and you will have a masterpiece you can showcase year round.
Kim Hesson lives in Mesa, AZ with her husband and three kids. She has loved crafting and art her whole life! Kim has worked with wood for over 15 years, including creating custom tole painted decorative pieces and furniture. She also has a gift for floral arranging and has taught for the the past 12 years. Kim has been scrapbooking for 7 years and found it very natural to include her love for wood in her projects. This has taken her to her newest venture with her online store "Miss Alayneeah" where she sells her hand-cut wood creations and other vintage finds. Currently, Kim loves all things vintage, worn, and shabby. She loves to use these treasures in her artwork, classes and in her home. You can read more about Kim and her adventures on her blog at www.kimhesson.typepad.com and her online store www.kimhesson.typepad.com/missalayneeah.
